Just Mindfulness

Weekly Monday night 6pm-8pm at Sky Creek Dharma Center

Weekly Non-religious (secular) Mindfulness meditation

with Marianne Pilgrim, Amit Roy, and Alan Raetz

We welcome beginning and experienced meditators to join us every Monday at 6pm.  We start with a 1 hour silent meditation period, with periods of sitting and a 10 minute walking meditation period. We will tailor our first hour to the needs of the participants, leading new meditators with more instruction when needed. Our goal is to create a peaceful environment free of chatter where we can relax and take a deep breath, settle into our bodies and dedicate the time to be truly mindful of our body, thoughts and emotions.

After a short break, we will have a 30 minute discussion period on a specific topic introduced by the group leader. We will be discussing principles and practices to enhance mindfulness both in meditation and in our real lives, learning new tools and techniques for dealing with stress, anxiety, and everyday difficulties, with time for group discussion and sharing. Our goal is to create an ongoing community of meditators that are interested in deepening their practice.

We welcome all regardless of background. We encourage regular members to enroll in online monthly donations to Sky Creek Dharma Center at $15/month, but all meetings are open to the public and visitors and newcomers are always welcome free of cost.

Marianne Pilgrim is an MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) teacher-in-training, and has led two in-person 8-week workshops at Sky Creek Dharma Center. Amit Roy has completed the Jack Kornfield & Tara Brach’s Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP) training program. Alan Raetz is a Sky Creek Dharma Center board member and considers Insight Meditation Center teacher Gil Fronsdal his primary influence.
