Wesak 2026 All-Sangha Spring Celebration

Saturday May 16th 2026 9am – 2pm

Open to the Public and Free Admission (Donations gladly accepted). We are a 501(c)3 non-profit with no paid staff, founded in Chico in 2004. The center is a weekly meeting place for eight different meditation groups. We have three Zen groups, two Vipassana groups, a Taoist group, and two ‘eclectic’ groups open to different traditions. All these groups (or ‘Sanghas’) are donation-based and open to the public.

Wesak is the only yearly event where all our weekly meditation groups come together in a single event.

We start at 9AM with either Qigong or a silent sitting, and at 10AM we come together to watch or participate in the traditional Buddhist Wesak ceremony as lead by Slowly Ripening Sangha (affiliated with Plum Village and Thich Nhat Hanh). After an early lunch potluck (newcomers–don’t feel obligated to bring anything, there has always been plenty of food), we will come together for a panel discussion in the meditation hall.

For newcomers, the panel discussion will be the one and only time in 2026 where all our group leaders (or an experienced representative) will be in the same room at the same time. They will introduce their practice and tradition and then these group leaders will discuss our topic of discussion, “Impermanence”, the birth and death of all things.
